India Hot Stocks: Pratibha Ind gains on strong results

MUMBAI, Oct 26 (Reuters) - The following stocks were on the move at the BSE on Friday.At 1:27 p.m. the benchmark 30-share BSE index <.BSESN> was up 2.3 percent at 19,203.27 points.The 50-share National Stock Exchange Index <.NSEI> was up 2.25 percent at 5,694.40 points.

* Pratibha Industries Ltd (PRTI.BO: Quote) extended gains to a high of 247.50 rupees after the construction firm reported a 81 percent rise in July-September net profit of 67.5 million rupees. The stock was trading at 242.65 rupees, up 6.3 percent.

* Power trading firm PTC India Ltd (PTCI.BO: Quote) rose 3.9 percent to 110.10 rupees after the Economic Times reported that Goldman Sachs ( GS.N: Quote) and Australia's Macquarie (MBL.AX: Quote) are close to acquiring 40 percent stake in the firm's unit PTC India Financial Services Ltd for around 1.2 bilion rupees.

* Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd (DCHL.BO: Quote) extended gains to a high of 219.80 rupees after the newspaper publisher's board approved a share buyback at a maximum price of 250 rupees per share, and agreed to place up to 24 percent in subsidiary Sieger Solutions. The stock was trading at 218.45 rupees, up 7.7 percent.

* Heavy equipment maker BEML Ltd (BEML.BO: Quote) was up 4.2 percent at 1,562 rupees after it secured a 11.44-billion rupees order late on Thursday, from the Delhi Metro Railway Corp. The stock touched a high of 1,565 rupees.

MUMBAI, Oct 24 (Reuters) - The following stocks were on the move at the BSE on Thursday.At 11:48 a.m. the benchmark 30-share BSE index <.BSESN> was up 0.45 percent at 18,596.66 points.The 50-share National Stock Exchange Index <.NSEI> was up 0.29 percent at 5,512.15 points.

* Jai Corp Ltd (JAIC.BO: Quote) jumped five percent to 1,168.10 rupees after block deals on BSE and NSE. Combined block deals of 311,742 shares were struck in the price band of 1,057-1,074 rupees. Details of the buyers and sellers were not known immediately.(11:45 a.m.)

* TVS Motor Co Ltd (TVSM.BO: Quote) fell 1.7 percent to 55.70 rupees after its net profit fell 52 percent in the Sept quarter. The firm reported a net profit of 119.2 million rupees, compared with a Reuters Poll of 55 million rupees. Traders expect current quarter to remain weak for the firm.

* Infrastructure developer Maytas Infra Ltd (MAIL.BO: Quote) listed at 40.3 percent premium to its issue price of 370 rupees. Its shares, which touched a high of 604 rupees and low of 480 rupees, were trading at 567.50 rupees, up 53.4 percent, to the issue price.

* Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd (GFLR.BO: Quote) extended gains to a high of 601 rupees after a senior official said it expects to earn up to 2 million carbon credits a year from a foray into wind power projects.

* Iron ore exporter Sesa Goa Ltd (SESA.BO: Quote) rose 6.6 percent to 3,302 rupees on expectation of a global rise in iron ore prices next year. A Reuters poll estimates iron ore prices to rise 25 percent in 2008.

* Siemens Ltd (SIEM.BO: Quote) rose 4.1 percent to 1,727 rupees after it won an order worth 3.3 billion rupees from Tata Steel Ltd (TISC.BO: Quote) on Tuesday.

* Drug maker Novartis India Ltd (NOIN.BO: Quote) climbed 9.9 percent to 319.50 rupees after its net profit rose 70 percent for Sept quarter from a year ago. It reported net profit of 303.9 million rupees from 178.7 million rupees a year ago.

* Power trading firm PTC India Ltd (PTCI.BO: Quote) touch a high of 108 rupees after its plans to raise 12 billion rupees from qualified institutional investors and its net profit rose 32 percent to 114 million rupees. Shares in the firm eased a bit and were up 2.9 percent at 104 rupees.

India Hot Stocks: Greenply Ind extends gain on net profit jump

MUMBAI, Oct 23 (Reuters) - The following stocks were on the move at the BSE on Tuesday.At 12:40 p.m. the benchmark 30-share BSE index <.BSESN> was up 3.91 percent at 18,299.72 points.The 50-share National Stock Exchange Index <.NSEI> was up 4.36 percent at 5,410.10 points.

* Greenply Industries Ltd (GRPL.BO: Quote) extended gains to 264.80 rupees, up 6.1 percent after its net profit more-than-doubled for Sept quarter. The firm reported net profit of 111.9 million rupees from 47.5 million rupees a year ago. Shares eased a bit to 260.50 rupees, up 4.4 percent.

* Chemicals maker BASF India extended gains to a high of 248 rupees after the company posted an 18 percent rise in July-Sept net profit to 240.9 million rupees. The stock was trading at 246.60 rupees, still up 5.3 percent.

* Newspaper publisher Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd (DCHL.BO: Quote) extended gains after a block deal of 1.13 million shares, or 0.48 percent of its equity, was struck at 180 rupees a share, BSE data showed. Its shares were up 5.7 percent at 184.90 rupees.* Suzlon Energy Ltd (SUZL.BO: Quote) extended gains after its board approved splitting each share into five and its plan to list its Belgian subsidiary in London. Shares in the company were up 13.9 percent to 1805 rupees.
*Software firm Satyam Computer Services Ltd ( SATY.BO: Quote) rose 2.9 percent to 461.40 rupees after it posted a 28 percent rise in quarterly net profit, beating forecasts. Satyam posted a net profit of 4.09 billion rupees compared with a Reuters poll of 3.80 billion rupees.

* Sugar firm EID Parry India Ltd (EIDP.BO: Quote) jumped 6.95 percent to 140 rupees after it said its board would meet on Oct 29 to consider a buy-back of shares.

India Hot Stocks: ITD Cementation gains on rights issue plan

MUMBAI, Oct 22 (Reuters) - The following stocks were on the move at the BSE on Monday.

At 2:28 p.m. the benchmark 30-share BSE index <.BSESN> was down 0.51 percent at 17,470.77 points.The 50-share National Stock Exchange Index <.NSEI> was down 1.06 percent at 5, 159.80 points.

* India's second-largest bank ICICI Bank Ltd (ICBK.BO: Quote) rose 3.1 percent to 1,055.50 rupees after its net profit for Sept quarter rose by a third, beating market forecasts. The bank reported net profit of 10.03 billion rupees compared with a Reuters poll of 9.28 billion rupees.

* Havells India Ltd (HVEL.BO: Quote) rose 5.2 percent to 640.20 rupees after it said private equity firm Warburg Pincus LLC plans to pick up an 11.2 percent stake in the firm for $110 million.* Ambuja Cements Ltd (ABUJ.BO: Quote) climbed 4.15 percent to 145.40 after a block deal of 47.20 million shares or 3.1 percent of the firm's equity. Details of the buyers and sellers were not known immediately. The deal was struck at 141.75 rupees a share, BSE data showed.

* Jagran Prakashan Ltd (JAGP.BO: Quote) extended gains to hit 599 rupees after the newspaper publisher said its board would consider a stock split on Oct. 29. The stock has eased to 575 rupees, up 6.5 percent. (2:53 p.m.)

* Asian Paints Ltd (ASPN.BO: Quote) recovered more than 1.5 percent from a low of 925 rupees after the paint maker reported a better-than-expected July-September net profit of 1.08 billion rupees, up 40 percent from a year ago. The share was trading at 935 rupees, still down 1.3 percent.

* Godavari Fertilisers & Chemicals Ltd (GDVF.BO: Quote) rose 8.2 percent to 158 rupees after its quarterly net profit rose 48 percent. The firm reported net profit of 487.1 million rupees for Sept quarter from 330.1 million rupees a year ago.

* Software services firm Wipro Ltd (WIPR.BO: Quote) rose 1.7 percent to 505 rupees after it posted a 17-percent rise in quarterly profit under U.S. accounting rules, beating forecasts. The firm reported a net profit of 8.12 billion rupees against 6.96 billion rupees a year ago.

* Drug firm Saamya Biotech (India) Ltd (SABI.BO: Quote) listed up 75 percent to its issue price of 10 rupees a share. The shares in the company touched a high of 22 rupees and low of 15 rupees. Shares were trading at 16.75 rupees.

* Quintegra Solutions Ltd (QUIN.BO: Quote) rose by its daily-maximum limit of 5 percent to 119.40 rupees after the company said it had bought U.S.-based PA Corp for $49 million.

* Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS.BO: Quote) extended gains after India's top software services exporter secured a $1.2 billion 10-year contract from information and media firm Nielsen Co. to provide IT services for the latter's global operations. The shares are trading 4.7 percent higher at 1,147 rupees.

* Reliance Industries Ltd (RELI.BO: Quote) rose 3 percent to 2,770 rupees ahead of the quarterly results of India's biggest listed company. The firm is expected to post a 25 percent rise in quarterly earnings to 33.79 billion rupees.

* Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd (SIIL.BO: Quote) listed at 71 percent premium to the issue price of 108 rupees. Shares in the company touched a high of 224 rupees and low of 170 rupees. Shares in the company were trading at 189.70 rupees.

India Hot Stocks: Action Construction gains on stock split plan

* Food processing firm Himalya International Ltd (HIMA.BO: Quote) jumped 20 percent, the maximum daily limit, to 17.55 rupees after its net profit for Sept. quarter rose 91 percent from a year ago. It reported net profit of 25.4 million rupees compared to 13.28 million rupees a year ago.

* LIC Housing Finance Ltd (LICH.BO: Quote) extended gains after the mortgage lender said its board will meet on Oct. 22 to consider issuing equity shares of the company. The shares are trading 3.7 percent higher at 237 rupees.

* Axis Bank Ltd (AXBK.BO: Quote) extended gains after its net profit for the Sept quarter rose 60 percent from the year ago. It reported net profit of 2.28 billion rupees from 1.42 billion rupees a year ago. Shares of the bank were up 3.3 percent at 767.60 rupees.

* Consolidated Construction Consortium Ltd (CCON.BO: Quote) listed at 57 percent premium to the issue price of 510 rupees a share. Shares in the firm touched a high of 825.25 rupees earlier and low of 766 rupees. It was trading at 768.05 rupees.

* Automotive battery maker Exide Industries Ltd (EXID.BO: Quote) extended gains after its net profit rose 42 percent for the Sept quarter. The company reported a net profit of 622.4 million rupees from 437.4 million rupees a year ago. Shares in the company were up 6.3 percent at 73.50 rupees.

* Unity Infraprojects Ltd (UTIL.BO: Quote) touched a new 52-week high of 724 rupees after the company and joint venture partner Nagarjuna Construction Co Ltd ( NGCN.BO: Quote) won orders worth 2.25 billion rupees. The stock was trading at 718 rupees, up 6.7 percent.

* Software services exporter Infosys Technologies Ltd (INFY.BO: Quote) was the biggest loser on the Sensex, down 5.2 percent at 2,015 rupees, after it posted an 18 percent rise in July-September net profit to 11 billion rupees, near market expectations. Software firms Tata Consultancy Services ( TCS.BO: Quote ), Wipro (WIPR.BO: Quote) and Satyam Computer Services <SATY.BO ) were also down 2-3 percent.

* Real estate firm DLF Ltd (DLF.BO: Quote) touched a new high of 919.90 rupees ahead of its board meeting later on Thursday to consider overseas acquisitions and fund raising offshore. The stock was off highs at 916 rupees, up 2.7 percent.

* Bharti Airtel Ltd (BRTI.BO: Quote) hit a new high of 1,149 rupees after the Reserve Bank of India allowed foreign fund buying in the mobile operator as their holding had dropped below the limit. The shares have eased to 1,082 rupees, still up 4 percent.

India Hot Stocks: Prime Securities extends gain on buyback plan

MUMBAI, Oct 9 (Reuters) - The following stocks were on the move at the BSE on Tuesday. At 3:33 p.m. the benchmark 30-share BSE index <.BSESN> was up 3.75 percent at 18,148.19 points. The 50-share National Stock Exchange Index <.NSEI> was up 3.89 percent at 5,282.75 points.

* Prime Securities Ltd (PRME.BO: Quote) extended gains to hit a day's high of 98 rupees after the brokerage said its board would meet on November 3 to consider a share buyback. Its July-Sept net profit more than doubled to 145.8 million rupees. The shares have eased to 95.90 rupees, up 5.7 percent.

* Prism Cement Ltd (PRIS.BO: Quote) extended gains after its net profit surged for the September quarter. The firm reported net profit of 518.4 million rupees for September quarter, compared with 221.5 million rupees a year ago. Shares in the portland cement maker were up 7.9 percent at 65 rupees.

* IFCI Ltd (IFCI.NS: Quote ) and Nagarjuna Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd (NGFR.NS: Quote) shares were up more than 6 percent and Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd (TTML.NS: Quote) was up nearly 3 percent after the National Stock Exchange allowed fresh derivatives positions in these companies.

* Sugar companies Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd (BJHN.BO: Quote) and Balrampur Chinni Mills Ltd (BACH.BO : Quote ) down 2-3 percent after the International Sugar Organization said India's exportable sugar surplus would make significant price rises unlikely.

* Intellvisions Software Ltd (ITVS.BO: Quote) continued to rise 20 percent for second day in row after it said its board would meet on Oct 15 to consider various acquisition proposals and a preferential issue of warrants to the promoter of the company.

Buy NYSE stocks via ICICI Direct

Online trading firm ICICI Direct has signed a deal with American securities services provider Penson Financial Services, Inc (PFSI) to facilitate overseas trading for Indian investors.

ICICI Direct customers will get single-window access for both domestic and US share trading, and will be able to invest in overseas securities that include shares, ADRs, index options and ETFs on the New York Stock Exchange, American Exchange and Nasdaq.

The tie-up comes in the wake of the new liberalised RBI remittance scheme whereby individual investors can invest up to $200,000 per financial year.

* Software firm Hexaware Technologies Ltd (HEXT.BO: Quote) rose 3.6 percent to 125.70 rupees after it said after market hours on Thursday it had won a five million euro contract in Germany.
* Power transmission firm Power Grid Corp of India (PGRD.BO: Quote) made its debut at a 63 percent premium to the issue price of 52 rupees a share. The shares touched a high of 102 rupees, and low of 85 rupees. Shares in the company were trading at 100.40 rupees.
* Real estate firm DLF Ltd (DLF.BO: Quote) rose 1.8 percent to 878 rupees after it said its board would meet on Oct 11 to consider proposals regarding overseas acquisitions and raising funds offshore. The board would also consider participating in the proposed public offer of DLF Offices Trust in Singapore.

* Property developer DLF Ltd (DLF.BO: Quote) rose 3 percent to 888 rupees. The company said its board would meet on Oct 11 to consider overseas acquisitions and foreign raising of funds.
* Lanco Infratech Ltd (LAIN.BO: Quote) rose 1 percent to 408.50 rupees. Its construction division received an order worth 730 million rupees to construct a university in southern India.
* Ashok Leyland Ltd (ASOK.BO: Quote) fell 1.5 percent to 43.75 rupees. It said September sales were down 11 percent from a year earlier

* Zenotech Laboratories Ltd (ZENL.BO: Quote) is up 10 percent, the maximumdaily limit, at 167.30 rupees ahead of the firm's board meeting toconsider a preferential issue of shares to financial investors.
* Power companies like Tata Power Ltd (TTPW.BO: Quote), NTPC Ltd (NTPC.BO:Quote), GVK Power Ltd (GVKP.BO: Quote), CESC Ltd (CESC.BO: Quote) are up5-18.5 percent after shares of Reliance Energy (RLEN.BO: Quote) jumped inthe last one month, traders said. * Mirc Electronics Ltd (MIRC.BO: Quote) is up 14.35 percent at 25.10 rupees after the Economic Times newspaper reported that two of the three founders of the firm have broken off with the third and started talks with rival Videocon and Future Capital to sell a substantial stake in the main holding company that holds stake in the Mirc. Company officials could not be reached for comment.

* Jewellery firm Gitanjali Gems Ltd (GTGM.BO: Quote) extended gains after it said its board would meet on Oct. 6 to consider raising equity capital through various means. Shares in the company were up 3.4 percent at 330 rupees.
