The Sensex plunged 330.98 points during the week (July 23- July 27). The market commmenced the week on a positive note, it touched a new high on Monday, but ended the last day of trading i.e Friday on a weak note; shedding more than 500 points. It recorded its second biggest fall of the current financial year.

Sensex at 15565 : Hot Stocks July

The benchmark 30-share BSE index <.BSESN> ended up 0.10 percent, or 15.42 points, at a record close of 15,565.55, although 17 components fell on the day.

* Subros Ltd. rose 8.4 percent to 240.65 rupees after the maker of air conditioning systems for automobiles said its board would meet on July 30 to consider a stock split.

* Jindal Drilling and Industries Ltd. rose 8.8 percent higher to 820.95 rupees after Oil and Natural Gas Corp. awarded a $255 million order to the firm.

* Mastek Ltd. gained 15.8 percent to 330.15 rupees after the software services firm said it acquired U.S.-based Vector Insurance Services LLC for $10 million.

* Jindal Drilling and Industries Ltd. (JNDR.BO: Quote) rose 3.5 percent to 781 rupees after Oil and Natural Gas Corp. (ONGC.BO: Quote) gave a $255 million order to the firm.

* Modern Steels Ltd. (MSTL.BO: Quote) extended gains after the firm said its board would meet on July 24 to consider a bonus share issue. Shares in the company were up 19.8 percent at 66 rupees.

* Mastek Ltd. (MAST.BO: Quote) touched a high of 329 rupees after the software services firm said it acquired U.S.based Vector Insurance Services LLC for $10 million. The shares are up 12.3 percent at 320.10 rupees.

* Eicher Motors Ltd. (EICH.BO: Quote) was trading nearly 7 percent higher at 367 rupees after a Times of India newspaper reported on Saturday that South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co. was in talks to acquire a stake in the Indian automobile maker. "We are approached regularly by
overseas companies for tieups and alliances but we have not deliberated on selling a stake to any one of them yet," a company spokeswoman said.

MUMBAI, July 17 The following stocks were on the move at the BSE on Tuesday.

At 1:42 p.m. the benchmark 30share BSE index <.BSESN> was up 0.29 percent at 15,356.35 points.

The 50share National Stock Exchange Index <.NSEI> was up 0.08 percent at 4,515.85 points.

* Satyam Computer Services Ltd. (SATY.BO: Quote) extended gains after it signed four major deals in Singapore, Australia and United Arab Emirates for IT services and outsourcing. Shares in the company were up 2.6 percent at 494.50 rupees.

* Compucom Software Ltd. (CMPU.BO: Quote) extended gains after it said its board will meet on July 30 to consider a stock split. Shares in the company were up 12.9 percent at 72 rupees.

* Broadcaster Zee News Ltd. (ZEEN.BO: Quote) jumped 11.3 percent to 50.20 rupees after reporting profit on a consolidated basis for June quarter compared to loss in the March quarter. It reported net profit of 58.3 million rupees against a net loss of 5.2 million rupees last quarter.

* Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS.BO: Quote) was up 2.9 percent at 1,160 rupees after India's top software services exporter posted a higher than expected 37 percent jump in April-June quarterly profit to 11.86 billion rupees. The shares earlier rose to 1,177.70 rupees.

* Indiabulls Financial Services Ltd. (IBUL.BO: Quote) touched a new high of 664.95 rupees after 1.37 million shares, or 0.62 percent of the equity, changed hands in a block deal on the BSE at 655.50 rupees each. The stock was at 659 rupees, up 2.1 percent.

STOCKS THAT MOVED

* DLF Ltd. (DLF.BO: Quote) rose 5.8 percent to 645.40 rupees after India's largest real estate firm said it had received a 60 billion rupee contract for development of a convention center in New Delhi.

* Biocon Ltd. (BION.BO: Quote) rose as much as 4 percent in the intra day after India's largest biotechnology firm reported a 63 percent jump in June quarter net profit to 448.6 million rupees. It also sold its enzymes unit to a Danish firm for $115 million. The stock ended 0.3 percent higher at 461.90 rupees.

* Sun Pharma Advanced Research Co. Ltd. (SPRC.BO: Quote), the spun off unit of Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd. ( SUN.BO: Quote), ended at 87.15 rupees on its market debut, level with its opening price.

* Reliance Natural Resources Ltd. (RENR.BO: Quote) on 21.3 million shares

* KS Oil Ltd. (KSOI.BO: Quote) on 10.5 million shares

MUMBAI, July 18 The following stocks were on the move at the BSE on Wednesday.

At 11:59 a.m. the benchmark 30share BSE index <.BSESN> was up 0.04 percent at 15,296.47 points.

The 50share National Stock Exchange Index <.NSEI> was up 0.03 percent at 4,498.20 points.

* Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd. (UTSM.BO: Quote) extended gains after the company said its board would meet on July 21 to consider various fund raising options, including a rights issue. The shares are trading 4.5 percent higher at 103.95 rupees.

* DLF Ltd. (DLF.BO: Quote) extended gains to a high of 635 rupees after India's largest realestate firm said it had received a 60 billion rupee contract for developement of a convention centre in New Delhi. The stock was trading at 632.95 rupees, up 3.7 percent.

* Sun Pharma Advanced Research Co. Ltd. (SPRC.BO: Quote), the spunoff unit of Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd. ( SUN.BO: Quote), made its debut at 87.15 rupees. At this rate there were only buyers and no sellers in the stock.

* Biocon Ltd. (BION.BO: Quote) extended gains to 479 rupees after the biotechnology firm reported a 63 percent jump in AprilJune net profit to 448.6 million rupees. The stock was trading at 475 rupees, up 3.1 percent.

* Jewellery maker Gitanjali Gems Ltd. (GTGM.BO: Quote) extended gains to a high of 252 rupees after 403,146 shares, or 0.7 percent of equity, changed hands in a block deal on the BSE at 243.50 rupees a share. The stock was up 5.3 percent at 252.25 rupees.

* Debutant Spice Communications Ltd. (SPCM.BO: Quote) was trading at 59.50 rupees, above its issue price of 46 rupees a share.

* Reliance Natural Resources Ltd. (RENR.BO: Quote) gained 0.8 percent at 43.25 rupees after its net profit soared for June quarter.

* Construction firm Hindustan DorrOliver Ltd. (HDRR.BO: Quote) rose 5 percent to 132.35 rupees, its maximum daily limit, after it received an order worth 300 million rupees.

* SRF Ltd. (SRFL.BO: Quote) slipped to a day's low of 157 rupees after the chemicals firm reported a 31 percent fall in AprilJune net profit to 560.2 million rupees. The stock was trading at 159 rupees, down 5.4 percent.

* Shares in Nelco Ltd. (NELC.BO: Quote) fell after the electronics products maker reported a net loss of 47.8 million rupees for the AprilJune quarter, compared to a net loss of 31.7 million a year ago. The stock was down 10.8 percent at 115.50 rupees.

* Godavari Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd. (GDVF.BO: Quote) jumped by its daily maximum limit of 10 percent to 124 rupees after the company reported a net profit of 129.7 million rupees for the June quarter compared with a loss in the same quarter a year ago.

* Tata Metaliks Ltd. (TMET.BO: Quote) rose 5 percent to 140.70 rupees after it signed a joint venture agreement with Japan's Kubota Corp. (6326.T: Quote) and Metal One for pipe manufacturing in India.

* Batteries maker Exide Industries Ltd. (EXID.BO: Quote) extended gains after its net profit rose 84 percent for June quarter, beating Reuters poll estimates. The company reported a net profit of 701.1 million rupees compared to estimates of 422 million rupees. Shares in the company were up 7.6 percent at 50.70 rupees.

* United Phosphorus Ltd. (UNPO.BO: Quote) extended gains after the chemicals and pesticides maker said it had acquired Argentinabased crop protection products maker Icona and Icona San Luis S.A. for $10 million. The shares are trading at 307.35 rupees, up 2.5 percent.

* Prism Cement Ltd. (PRIS.BO: Quote) touched a new high of 54.50 rupees after the company said it would invest 740 million rupees for a 74 percent stake in a joint venture with Australia's QBE International (Investments) Pty Ltd. for general insurance business in India. The stock is 4 percent up at 54.05 rupees.

Sensex at 15272 July Week 2

*Shares in Yash Birla group firms Zenith Brila , Birla Kennametal and Birla Power Solution surged after reports that the group planned a merger of the firms, acquisitions, investment and sale of non-core units to steamline operations and focus on textiles, autoparts, lifestyle and power. Shares in Zenith Birla was up 20 percent, Birla Kennametal 5 percent and Birla Power 5.5 percent.
* Sadbhav Engineering Ltd. extended gains after it raised the foreign portfolio limit to 49 percent of its paid-up capital. Shares in the company touched a high of 617 rupees after the news and were up 2.33 percent at 608.95 rupees.
* Drugs and chemicals maker Hikal Ltd. extended gains after it signed a mutually exclusive deal worth about 2 billion rupees with U.S.-based Alpharma Inc. to sell a veterinary bulk drug. Shares in the company were up 10.8 percent at 523.90 rupees.
* Dishman Pharmaceuticals & Chemicals Ltd. extended gains to a new high of 341.85 rupees after the drug maker said it had agreed to acquire the fine chemicals and vitamins business of the Netherlands' Solvay Pharmaceuticals BV, for an undisclosed sum. Dishman shares were trading at 338 rupees, up 3.9 percent.
* Shares of construction firm Roman Tarmat Ltd. , which rose 69 percent from its initial public offer price of 175 rupees on debut, were trading at 325 rupees on a volume of 1.6 million shares on the BSE. Brokers said there was strong demand for the stock on attractive pricing and expect it to close above 350 rupees.
* Zenith Infotech Ltd. touched a new high of 594 rupees after the company said its board would meet on July 14 to consider raising 3 billion rupees in equity or convertibles. The shares have eased to 565 rupees.
* Ankit Metal & Power Ltd. made its debut at 37.90 rupees, 5.3 percent higher than the issue price of 36 rupees. The stock was trading at 36.85 rupees at 0539 GMT.
* GMR Infrastructure Ltd. rose almost 3 percent to 767.05 rupees, after a consortium of Malaysia Airports Holdings, Turkey's Limak and the Indian firm clinched the rights to Istanbul's second airport with a 1.9 billion-euro bid.
* Top bus & truck maker Tata Motors rose 2.8 percent to 735.95 rupees after media reports quoting chairman Ratan Tata said the company could go in for initial public offering of some of its profitable subsidiaries to unlock shareholder value.

* Reliance Natural Resources Ltd. rose 5 percent to 39.75 rupees after the firm said it would seek government approval to set up city gas distribution projects in Delhi and its adjoining towns as well as Mumbai.
* Textile firm Arvind Mills Ltd. rose 4.5 percent to 48.55 rupees on market talk of the company selling surplus land near Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Two brokers said Arvind was at an advanced stage of sealing the sale of the property. Company officials were not available for comments.
* GMR Infrastructure Ltd. rose to as much as 770 rupees after its consortium with Malaysia Airport Holdings and Turkey's Limak won the rights to build Istanbul's second airport with a 1.9-billion-euro bid. The stock was trading 3.2 percent higher at 768.60 rupees.
* Packaging materials maker Radha Madhav Corp. Ltd. extended gains to touch a high of 78.75 rupees after its April-June net profit rose nearly five-fold from a year ago to 50.25 million rupees. The stock was trading at 78 rupees, up 4 percent.
* Ahluwalia Contracts India Ltd. touched a high of 455 rupees after the company said it had secured civil construction projects worth 1.3 billion rupees in June. The shares have trimmed gains to 445 rupees, still up 3.7 percent.
* JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. was trading 2.5 percent up at 140 rupees after the company said it plans to invest 11 billion rupees in the next three years to expand capacity by 30 percent.

STOCKS THAT MOVED
* Software firm Megasoft Ltd. jumped 9.2 percent on news it would buy U.S. firm Boston Communications Group Inc. for about $65 million.
* Shares in utility Reliance Energy Ltd. closed up 2.1 percent at 625.80 rupees after the firm said on Tuesday it would spend nearly $15 billion over five years to add 15,000 megawatts of power capacity.
* Reliance Natural Resources rose 3.6 percent to 41.85 rupees, after the firm said on Tuesday it had sought government approval to set up city gas distribution projects in Delhi and its adjoining towns as well as in Mumbai.

* Chennai Petroleum Corp. Ltd. touched a high of 310 rupees after the state-run refiner said June-quarter net profit rose 27 percent from a year earlier to 3.23 billion rupees. The shares have eased to 304 rupees, up 6.8 percent.
* KEC International Ltd. touched a high of 590 rupees after the power transmission equipment maker said it had secured two contracts in the Middle East worth 1.76 billion rupees. The stock was trading at 582 rupees, up 4.8 percent.
* Accentia Technologies Ltd. was up 2.8 percent at 147.75 rupees after the company said its board will meet on July 18 to consider a $3 million acquisition in the U.S.

STOCKS THAT MOVED
* Reliance Energy Ltd. jumped 6.8 percent to a record close of 668.50 rupees. The stock has been gaining since the utility said on Tuesday it would massively expand capacity to make it a leader in Asia's third-largest economy.
* Metal stocks such as Hindalco Industries and Tata Steel gained as investors switched into the sector after results from Infosys signalled the stronger rupee would hurt profit growth in software firms, traders said.
* GMR Infrastructure jumped to an all-time high on hopes of more contracts after its consortium with Malaysia Airport Holdings and Turky's Limak won the rights to build Istanbul's second airport. The stock closed 13.6 percent up at 951.65 rupees, and has gained 28.5 percent so far this week.

* Larsen & Toubro Ltd. rose to an all-time high of 2,450 rupees during trade after the firm said it had won contracts worth 8.53 billion rupees ($211 million). It closed up 1 percent up at 2,400 rupees.
* Power equipment manufacturer Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. rose to a lifetime peak of 1,715 rupees, before closing up 2.6 percent at 1,683.70. Citigroup has raised its target price on the stock to 1,923 rupees from 1,672 earlier. HSBC Securities had upgraded the stock to "overweight" from "neutral" and raised its target to 1,880 rupees.

* Steel Authority of India on 6.4 million shares
* Textile exporters Gokaldas Exports Ltd. , Bombay Rayon Fashions Ltd. and Himatsingka Seide Ltd. are up 2.7-6.1 percent after the federal government announced a series of measures, including interest rate concessions, to help exporters.
* Birla Kennametal fell 5 percent, its maximum daily limit, after the Yash Birla group bought out the entire shareholding of joint venture (JV) partner, Kennametal , to end the agreement. The stock was at 343.95 rupees.
* Textiles firm Pearl Global Ltd. rose to its maximum daily limit of 20 percent after its board approved a collaboration with Ansal Properties and Infrastruture Ltd. to develop land in Gurgoan, near Delhi. The shares were at 87.70 rupees.
* Great Offshore Ltd. rose to as high as 850 rupees after the company said it had received a 10-billion-rupee contract from state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp. The stock was trading at 833 rupees, up 3.6 percent.
* DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd. rose by its maximum daily limit of 5 percent to 97.15 rupees after newspaper reports that it was close to selling 112 acres land in West Delhi to DLF Ltd.. Company officials were not immediately available for comment.

PAN compulsory after July 2 says SEBI

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) vide circular dated April 27, 2007 and letter dated June 25, 2007, has made Permanent Account Number (PAN), the sole identification number for all participants transacting in the securities market, irrespective of the amount of transaction, effective July 2, 2007.

It is mandatory for all investors (including all joint applicants / holders, guardians (incase of minor applications) and Non Resident Indians) for all fresh purchases, additional purchases and new SIP registrations made on or after July 2, 2007 to submit your PAN card copy, and bring the original PAN card for verification.

Existing Investors who have submitted their PAN proof in any earlier transaction are not required to take any further action, unless you receive an intimation from our Registrars.

Please note that effective July 2, 2007 all transactions without PAN verification/Form 49A (along with Form 60 / 61 where applicable) will be rejected.

* Staterun Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. rose 4.6 percent to 1,222 rupees after media reports that the firm's public share offer received bids 30 times the issue size.

* IFCI Ltd. was down 4.4 percent to 60.15 rupees and Nagarajuna Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd. fell 4 percent to 22.75 rupees after the National Stock Exchange banned building fresh positions in the derivatives contracts of these firms.

* Vishal Retail Ltd. listed at a 75 percent premium to the issue price of 270 rupees a share and rose further. Shares in the company listed at 472.50 rupees on BSE, touched a high of 809 rupees and were later trading at 760.30 rupees.

* Retail firms like Trent Ltd. , Pantaloon Retail Ltd., Shopper's Stop Ltd., Piramyd Retail Ltd. were up 0.32.9 percent after Vishal Retail listed at a high premium to the issue price.

STOCKS THAT MOVED

* Real estate firms such as Unitech Ltd., Ansal Properties &
Infrastructure Ltd., Mahindra Gesco Developers Ltd., Indiabulls Realty
Ltd. rose between 3 percent and 12.9 percent ahead of Thursday's debut of
DLF Ltd. Traders said DLF shares could list above the issue price and
rekindle investor interest in real estate companies.

* Construction firm Valecha Engineering Ltd. Gained 7.7 percent to 271.55
rupees after it said its board would meet on July 30 to consider a bonus
share issue.

* Himatsingka Seide Ltd. ended up 3.4 percent at 121.95 rupees after it
said it paid $53 million for an 80 percent stake in U.S.-based Divatex
Homes Fashions Inc.

Sensex hit new life High July 2

Sensex hits new record high of 14,734.63 above the previous peak of 14,723.88 hit on Feb. 9. Hats of to SBI,L&T and reliance. Infy wipro etc down 20% from last peak. Most of the super global commentators are still skeptic.
